Hotel Kämp Expands: A New Era of Luxury and Wellness in Helsinki

Helsinki’s iconic Hotel Kämp, a hallmark of Finnish hospitality since 1887, is embarking on a transformative expansion that promises to redefine luxury in the city. With a significant 3,100 square meter addition, including 31 new rooms and an extensive wellness club, the hotel is set to become an even more compelling destination for both visitors and locals.

Central to the expansion is the integration of the historic Helander House on North Esplanade, which is currently undergoing a meticulous transformation. By May 2025, the project will be completed, unveiling 22 brand-new rooms and suites in the newly connected section of the hotel.

“We simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to incorporate Helander House into Hotel Kämp,” said Erika Ehrnrooth, COO of Strawberry Hotels Finland. “This expansion, along with our refurbishment plans, will create exciting new opportunities to attract premium events and meetings to Helsinki.”

The Helander House transformation includes both aesthetic and functional upgrades. Its façade is being restored, and energy-efficient heating and ventilation systems are being installed. Former office spaces will be converted into luxury accommodations, seamlessly blending the old with the new.

  • Experience showers and three pools
  • Seven treatment rooms
  • A wellness bar and lounge

“Hotel Kämp’s new wellness club will be an exclusive haven for fitness and wellbeing enthusiasts,” said Petter Stordalen, the hotel’s owner. “It’s a unique offering for both hotel guests and members, combining cutting-edge amenities with the tranquility of water elements.”

  • Relocating the main entrance to its original location facing Esplanade
  • Elevating the hotel lobby, bar, and restaurant to new levels of sophistication
  • Refurbishing all 179 existing rooms and suites
